Pairs Head Report

Sunday the 8th saw the opening day of racing for Norwich School Boat Club of the 2023/2024 season. The club spilt in half with the top four boats from the Senior Boys squad making the journey down to London to race at The Pairs Head of the River Race on the infamous Tideway, home of the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race. With perfect tideway conditions the day was an amazing day to be racing. In the pairs category we had two boats racing against a highly competitive field, including 9 boats from St Pauls, some of whom had been Henley Royal Regatta Finalists and Junior World Champions the previous year. Our two pairs performed excellently with the pair of Daniel Conway

and Daniel White coming 8th and recording the fastest time for NSBC that day. Our other pair of Atticus Hittchings and Zak Baker also raced to a high standard with perfect steering through the corners to allow them to finish 12th in the category. We also had two entries into the doubles category, where both boats of Daniel Neville, Oli Howard and Ted Bowyer, Hector Larner-Longe rowed well to secure 18th and 22nd respectively in a large category filled with top scullers from around the country. The club now moves to fours for their next trip to the tideway for Fours Head of the River at the end of half term.
